Central England Co-operative is set to close its travel business, with 16 branches transferring to Midcounties Co-operative and the remaining eight branches closing including some across the West Midlands.
The travel shops proposed for transfer to Midcounties Co-operative are: Allenton (Derby), Atherstone, Beccles, Castle Donington, Diss, Erdington, Glenfield, Ibstock, Kings Lynn, Lowestoft, March, Market Deeping, Oakham, Peterborough, Thetford, Whetstone.
The proposed travel shop closures are: Bourne, Great Barr, Rushden, Scunthorpe, St Ives, St Neots, Stirchley, Wisbech.

A spokesperson for Central England Co-operative said: “The Society can now announce that it intends to enter into an agreement with Midcounties Co-operative to transfer 16 of its travel agencies into Midcounties successful Travel business. The two Societies have a longstanding and positive relationship, with Central England recently joining Midcounties travel buying consortium following the demise of Thomas Cook. The coming together of the two businesses will enable the continuation of a Co-operative travel offer for our members and customers and the continued employment for a number of colleagues.
“Regretfully it is proposed to close the remaining eight travel branches. All colleagues from these sites are now under consultation and, where possible, we are looking to offer them the opportunity to relocate into other areas of our business.
“The decision was not taken lightly, and we would like to thank all staff for their commitment and dedication during their time with the Society. A date for the proposed completion of transfers and closures has yet to be confirmed.”
John Gorle – Usdaw National Officer said: “This is clearly a worrying time for the staff and Usdaw will be fully engaging in a meaningful consultation process on the proposed transfer and closures, where we will be seeking the best possible deal for members. In the meantime we are providing our members with the support, advice and representation they need through this process.
“Clearly the coronavirus emergency is having a big impact on the high street, not least in the travel industry. The Government has to prioritise supporting vulnerable businesses to help save jobs, working with unions and employers to develop an effective recovery plan as we emerge from this appalling pandemic.”

Ran by a bunch of horrible people.
Quality
East Midland Homes Cooperative took over a HMO I was a tenant at, Upon taking over the property they tried to increase rent ILLEGALLY. A month later they started moving in tenants recently released from Prison, Who need constant support which EMHC does not provide! I had many new tenants knocking on my door for basic goods like shower gel, Toilet roll and food. Once EMHC knew I was kicking up a fuss with people in the council etc they became threatening, Threatening to evict me ILLEGALLY, Forcing vulnerable people to make up stories about me to report ME to the police. All of which was filmed on CCTV. Once they got wind of CCTV they threatened to forcefully remove it, Things generally got worse from there on in. Widespread drug use within the shared areas of the property and MANY disturbances within the house due to new tenants and EMHC themselves. Glad to be rid of these people! I hope to see you in court so the way you treat and act towards people can be heard by the main stream, Because the council are in these guys pockets due to the homeless crisis within Nottingham.

Scam company

All they want is the money from housing benefits and service charge. Provide furniture out of skips. Mattresses stained and ripped. As far as support, it's non existent. Now mixing private tenants with supported tenants totally unsuitable for the accomodation and areas. Do not use them, and get out quick if you are with them

Negligence
Quality
So out of 8 houses in 3 streets within 100m of each other 6 operated by EMHC were raided by Police who removed vans full of cannabis plants. This followed from the worst Antisocial behaviour my Street has ever suffered from last year.

Poor quality / Poor management
Quality
Only have one interest at heart and that is getting the government grants etc. Refurbished my neighbouring property to such a poor standard that there are constantly people coming round the fix things. We were told a pack of lies from the start and if you question them then they threaten you. The main tenant is an ex offender and drug used and has all night parties. This is a poorly managed 'cooperative'!!

Bad news
Quality Coats 1004 wheel balancer manual.
Only interested in how much money they can scam from housing benefits for none existent support (280) per week plus try to con everyone into paying extra £25 per week service charge as well despite knowing everyone on universal credit and struggling .
